It was a suddenly arranged trip by few of us. First there was need of going to wild anywhere on earth!! Then menan helped us in giving the location. Althougt he has been there for several times none of us were there before. This includes myself (suranjith), Amali, Janitha and Susantha.
Our plan was to get there as soon as possible. Amali was willing to join us from her home [to bring our meals!!!] Menan was at panadura and his plan was to come along there as we all were in the campus.
Finally On the day 28.03.2009 we all were able come to Horana by 7.40am and we took a bus to Bodinagala junction. Conductoer was dicoraging us when he new that we are on our way to Bodinagala. But he was underastimating us!!
Menan was already there in the early morning, so we had to come along up to Bodinagala. Susantha was appointed as the recoerder and the rest of us were obersvers. We were inspecting birds, butterflies, mammals reptiles, crabs ect.
it was almost two kilometers from the Bodinagala junction (on the Rathnapura - panadura highway) to the junction where we turned left heading to Bodinagala. It took another one Kilometer from that juction to the Bodinagala arannya senasanaya.
Our first catch was a endamic Bird... it was a Sri Lanka Grey Hornbill (Ocyceros gingalensis) It flew away welcoming us to Bodinagala. then there was a Brown Shrike (Lanius cristatus cristatus.
